Punarbal Shikshya Sadan (translated from Nepali to Reinforce Education House) is a first-of-its-kind day and boarding school located in Kathmandu for HIV-infected children, orphans, and victims of severe povety and civil war.  As with many countries, those living with and affected by HIV are severely stigmatized and often cannot receive an education.  Punarbal is currently providing primary education to 65 children, of which 35 are HIV-infected.  The school will soon be opening the Punarbal Care and Support Center which will be the new school location and will board 15 children in a loving, healthy home enviroment under the care of three HIV-positive caretakers.

$16,080 USD (subsequent annual goal)

How You Can Help:

Sponsor the New Punarbal Care and Support Center:

• $82/month provides 3 meals/day for 3 children
•  $100/month provides full care for one HIV-positive child
• $16 provides 2 school uniforms, shoes, and socks for one child
• $25 provides one child with personal hygeine products (towel, toiletries, etc.)
• $50 buys 12 pillows or 1 student mattress
•  $125 buys 1 bunk-bed set or 4 study tables

Our Mission:

The mission of Punarbal Care and Support Center is to provide a primary education in a healthy, loving environement to children who would not otherwise have had an opportunity to be educated.  In this way, we can brigthen these children's futures, providing them with oppotunities for better health, further education, and independence. 

Our Goals:

The Punarbal Care and Support Center is a non-profit social organization which aims: 

• To provide a free and equal primary education for children living with HIV, orphans, and victims of severe poverty and civil war in Nepal.
• To provide a loving, healthy enviroment which includes healthcare, food, clothing to those children who need it.
• To stop stigmatization and discrimination against people infected and affected by HIV.
• To integrate children with HIV into the community and public school system.
• To provide vocational training for uneducated women in the community as well as training for community healthcare workers.
